Softball hosts EKU for midweek duel

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee Softball is set to host Eastern Kentucky in a midweek duel at the Blue Raider Softball Field. First pitch is slated for 1:00 p.m. CT on Wednesday, March 11.

Blue Raider Notes

Middle Tennessee is back in Murfreesboro after completing a sweep of Kennesaw State to open Conference USA play on the road in Kennesaw. The Blue Raiders outscored the Owls by a total of 31-12 across all three games.
Lucie McDonald was named CUSA Freshman of the Week after her stellar performance at the plate throughout CUSA opening weekend. McDonald batted .400 and slugged 1.000 with three runs, four hits, two home runs and seven RBI, including a go-ahead home run in the 12th inning of game one against the Owls and a grand slam to secure the run-rule victory in game three.
Braelyn Hall pitched a complete 12 innings in game one against Kennesaw State, the most by a Blue Raider in a single-game since Amber Baldwin threw 13.0 in the 2021 season. Hall recorded a career-high seven strikeouts in the outing and finished the weekend with a 1.08 ERA.

Colonel Notes

EKU enters the midweek 11-11 under the leadership of Jane Worthington in her 34th season. The Colonels most recently sported a 7-2 record in their nine-game home stretch.
Victoria Byrum appeared in three games, picking up two wins and posting a 0.45 ERA across 15.2 innings. She allowed just one earned run on 10 hits, struck out 17 and held opposing hitters to a .179 average during the EKU invitational.
Lilly Davis led EKU at the plate across the weekend, going 7-for-13 with two doubles, 11 RBI and three home runs for a .538 average.

Series History

The Blue Raiders are 24-11 against the Colonels all-time. The last time the two teams met was in 2013, when Middle Tennessee and EKU split a doubleheader; the Colonels winning the most recent matchup.
