Softball opens CUSA play in Kennesaw

KENNESAW, Ga. – Middle Tennessee Softball heads to Kennesaw State to open Conference USA play in the Peach State. The Blue Raiders will face the Owls in a three-game series, with the first game on Friday, March 6 at 4:00 p.m. CT.
Blue Raider Notes
- Middle Tennessee has knocked six triples so far this season, that mark second in Conference USA. Three different Blue Raiders have recorded triples this season, led by Macie Harter, who is responsible for half of the team's triple count. Harter's three triples tie her for eighth in NCAA Division 1.
- The Blue Raiders have turned a double play in seven consecutive games, including two games with multiple double plays. Middle Tennessee's 10 double plays are the most by a team in CUSA.
- Middle Tennessee's batters have hit a stride in the box. The Blue Raiders have homered in nine of their last 11 games, four of them multi-homer games.
- Mary Martinez threw the Middle Tennessee's third complete game of the season against UT Martin on Feb. 27. The win against the Skyhawks also marked the third game of the year where the Blue Raiders did not give up an earned run.
Owl Notes
- Kennesaw State enters the weekend 4-14 under the leadership of head coach Selena Collins-Patterson in her first season.
- Macie Howes leads the Owls at the plate with a .444 batting average and a 1.270 OPS. The senior catcher has recorded 24 hits, four home runs and 18 RBIs for Kennesaw State.
- Leah Jannakos has seen the most time in the circle for Kennesaw State with 12 appearances, seven starts and three complete games, holding a 4.78 ERA on the season.
Series History
Middle Tennessee and Kennesaw State have clashed a total of six times; the series tied at three games apiece. The last time the Blue Raiders and the Owls faced off was last season during CUSA play, where Middle Tennessee swept the three-game series.
