MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Middle Tennessee women's golf program is set to embark on the Conference USA Championships in search of its first conference win since 2016 this week. The championship tournament runs April 20-22 at Stonebriar Country Club in Frisco, Texas. The tournament will play as a par 72 to determine which of the CUSA teams will earn a bid to the NCAA Regionals.
The Field
All CUSA women's golf programs will take part in the competition. Including the Blue Raiders, the field is New Mexico State, Delaware, FIU, WKU, Kennesaw State, UTEP, Missouri State, Jacksonville State and Sam Houston.
The Blue Raiders
Middle Tennessee will field Isabella Johnson, Jillian Bowman, Ella Manley, Caroline Pardue and Abbie Lee as the lineup, with Nicole Johnson traveling as a potential substitute.
Last time out, the Blue Raiders took home the team title from the Golfweek Spring Challenge, downing the other 18 teams competing for their second team crown of the campaign. The win earned the program a bid to the inaugural Haskins Women's Intercollegiate next fall, a competition featuring some of the best programs in college golf. Isabella Johnson finished the lowest of MTSU golfers in fifth place, turning in two rounds at par or better and finishing with a 215 (+2).
The Tournament
The competition will take place on the Fazio Course at Stonebriar Country Club. The course opened in 2000 and was designed by Tom Fazio as a masterpiece of modern golf architecture. It features dramatic elevation changes, pristine fairways and artfully positioned hazards. The golfers will play a single round each day, with the winner being crowned Wednesday after the completion of the third and final 18.
