FRISCO, Texas – After the opening round of the Conference USA Championship, the Blue Raiders sit tied for fourth, shooting a 296 on the opening day at the Stonebriar Country Club. At eight-over on the day Middle Tennessee is tied with Jax State to close out the top five teams.
It was an up and down day on the course for the Blue Raiders, with early big numbers causing difficulty down the line. Isabella Johnson, leading the way in sixth place, was able to bounce back after two doubles on the front nine, tallying six birdies down the stretch to finish even for the day, her 17th round at par or better on the season.
Jillian Bowman found her footing halfway through the first nine, shooting seven-straight holes at par and adding four birdies to land just under Johnson at 73 (+1) and 12th on the player leaderboard.
Ella Manley clawed her way back up after beginning six-over through the opening three, only shooting one bogey after the start. The junior turned in a three-over 75 and four birdies to sit at 21st entering tomorrow's second round.
Abbie Lee was the final countable round for MTSU, wrapping up the day at four-over with a 76. After dropping in a birdie on the first hole, she tallied eight holes at par to finish 27th on the player leaderboard through the first 18.
Caroline Pardue shot an 81 (+9) on Monday and will look to bounce back on Tuesday's second round, amassing two birdies on the day.
The team will tee off Tuesday morning beginning at 10:10 a.m. at Stonebriar Country Club on hole one for the second 18 of the competition.
