Late surge not enough as Blue Raiders fall to Sam Houston

HUNTSVILLE, Texas- Middle Tennessee baseball (21-21, 8-11 CUSA) dropped game one of its weekend series against Sam Houston (19-23, 8-11 CUSA), 6-3.
The Blue Raider offense was shutout for the first eight innings of the ballgame, before patching together a three-run rally in the ninth. Brett Rogers singled up the middle to pick up an RBI with one out, and Brett Vondohlen shot a double down the left field line to score two with two outs.
David Horn Jr (L, 2-5) earned the nod for the Blue Raiders for the second straight Friday, and picked up his second straight quality start. Over 6.0 innings, the senior right-hander struck out six batters.
Sam Houston pushed runs across against Horn in the third and fourth, with a solo home run and two RBI singles doing the damage.
Middle Tennessee used blank arms out of the bullpen, with Landen Burch hurling a scoreless seventh. Colin Kerrigan and Cole Cates were both tagged for unearned runs in a three-run eighth inning.
