Blue Raiders drop series to LA Tech

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee Softball (13-21, 3-11 CUSA) dropped game two of the Conference USA series to LA Tech (21-17, 7-7 CUSA) by a score of 13-3 at the Blue Raider Softball Field.
The game started off scoreless, Halle Klaiber getting the start in the circle for the Blue Raiders, hanging a zero and striking out two to start the first inning. LA Tech struck first in the top of the second, but Middle Tennessee responded with a solo home run off the bat of Onnika Spencer to tie up the game. The Bulldogs took the lead back in the top of the third and would not relinquish it for the rest of the game.
The Blue Raiders scored twice more, both off the bat of Macie Harter, once in the bottom of the third and again in the bottom of the fifth. Middle Tennessee knocked seven total hits as a team against LA Tech's Allie Floyd, who was tagged CUSA Preseason Pitcher of the Year at the start of the season.
Klaiber struck out three in 3.1 innings of work before Tori Coffman would enter the game in relief. Coffman struck out one in 1.2 innings before Elle Hildreth would close out the next two innings.
By the Numbers
- 1: Avery Wynne knocked her first hit of the season in extra-base fashion during her pinch-hitting appearance in the bottom of the fifth.
- 4: Macie Harter recorded her fourth multi-RBI game of the year with her two against the Bulldogs today.
- 6: With her solo shot in the bottom of the second, Onnika Spencer smashed her sixth home run of the season and now leads the team in the stat category.
