Chikara qualifies for quarterfinals on day two of NCAA East First Rounds

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The second day of the NCAA East First Rounds for Middle Tennessee saw another student-athlete advance to the quarterfinals with a top finish, while two others completed their seasons at the Shively Track & Field Stadium Thursday.
Privillege Chikara ran a quick 2:03.72 in the 800M, finishing second in her heat just three-tenths of a second behind the top finisher. Her time sat 13th overall to advance her to the quarterfinals Saturday evening and is the second-quickest she's completed two laps in her collegiate career.
Chidinma Agu wrapped up her sophomore season in the first round of the 400M event, running a 52.48 in the opening heat of the day. She was less than a second from qualifying for the quarterfinals with a next quickest time, though the finish proved not enough to advance.
After receiving a last-minute qualification to the First Rounds, Faith Nyathi did not finish her final race of her collegiate career in the 10,000M.
The Blue Raiders continue competition tomorrow, with Joel Iheakolam taking part in the first heat of the triple jump at 5 p.m. CT and Mustapha Bokpin racing in the quarterfinals for the 100M and 200M at 5:35 p.m. and 6:50 p.m. CT, respectively, with a trip to Eugene on the line.
