Volleyball Closes Blue Raider Bash with Victory over Murray State

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — The Middle Tennessee volleyball team ended their weekend with a 3-1 victory over Murray State at the Blue Raider Bash in the Alumni Memorial Gym Saturday.
MTSU (6-3) finished 2-1 on the weekend, with two wins following the weekend opening loss versus Georgia State.
Sophia Henry closed her impressive weekend with 19 kills, leading the Blue Raiders offense. Gabrielle Clinkscale followed with 17 kills and Jaslyn Reed had 12.
Caroline Macander has season-high in assists with 59 on the day she was honored for her 1000th assist prior to the match.
Michaela Dlouhá, the Conference USA leader in blocks, was tied for the day's team block lead with Jaslyn Reed, both having six.
Logan Carr had nine kills and hit .571 to lead the team. Carr's .441 hitting percentage leads CUSA.
A convincing win in the first set for the Blue Raiders saw a 25-18 win capped by a Reed kill.
MTSU kept the momentum going in the second set, winning an albeit closer 25-23 second set. Clinkscale picked up the decisive kill.
With a chance to sweep, the Racers (1-8) forced a win-by-two, taking the set 26-24 to make it a 2-1 game.
Middle Tennessee turned the momentum back in its favor in the fourth set, shutting the door with an emphatic 25-17 victory.
Henry picked up her second match-winning point in as many days, this time launching a kill into the middle of the Murray State defensive alignment to end the match and weekend at the AMG.

--MTSU improves to 2-0 all-time versus Murray State.
--The Blue Raiders now have a winning record at home in the Alexa Keckler era, sitting at 8-7 (.533).
--Middle Tennessee held the second best record (Georgia State, 3-0) on the weekend at 2-1.
