Women's Soccer hits road for Sunday match at Alabama A&M

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Middle Tennessee women's soccer team will look to bounce back from its first loss of the season on Thursday night when it travels to Huntsville, Alabama to face Alabama A&M on Sunday at 2 p.m.

The Blue Raiders (4-1-2) will hope they can produce against the Bulldogs (1-2-1) like they have in years past, with the all-time series between the two programs including the two contests in which MTSU has won by its largest margin of victory (Aug. 24, 2012, 10-0) and scored the most goals (Aug. 23, 2009, 11-1).

Junior goalkeeper Demi Gronauer received CUSA Goalkeeper of the Week honors on Aug. 25 for her two clean sheets against UT Martin and West Georgia, the second individual honor of her career and the second for an MTSU player this season.
Sophomore defender Scottie Newton took home CUSA Defender of the Week honors on Aug. 18 after playing 174 minutes and helping her team to notch two clean sheets and face the fewest shots by any CUSA team (13) through its first two matches.
Sophomore defender/midfielder Charli Dunn was recently called up to represent the New Zealand U-20 National Team at the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in Poland from Sept. 5-27, where she will begin with group stage matches against Italy, the United States, and Japan.

Series History
Sunday's matchup sees the Blue Raiders and Bulldogs meet for the 11th time in program history, with MTSU holding a perfect 10-0-0 tab. The last edition of the contest resulted in a 5-0 Blue and White victory in Huntsville on Sept. 4, 2024.

Scouting the Bulldogs
Middle Tennessee will cross the Alabama state border to face the Alabama A&M Bulldogs, who finished 9-9-1 (5-2-1 SWAC) and third in the 2025 SWAC standings.

The Bulldogs concluded their 2025 season in the semifinal round of the SWAC Women's Soccer Tournament after falling 0-2 to Jackson State, the final opponent on MTSU's 2026 non-conference schedule.

Alabama A&M was picked to finish third in the 2026 SWAC Women's Soccer Preseason Poll, in the same spot it placed a season ago.

The Bulldogs are led by fourth-year head coach Prince Borde, who has led his team to back-to-back SWAC Women's Soccer Tournament Semifinal berths.
