The Spartans won the 2018 regular season and tournament titles in the SoCon and won a share of the 2017 regular season title, earning the No. 1 seed before falling in the championship game. The last two seasons marked the first two times in the program’s history they earned a No. 1 seed in the SoCon Tournament.

Morgan spent one season as an assistant coach at The Citadel, his first stint in the SoCon, after a season in Conference USA as a part of head coach Jerod Haase’s support staff at UAB.
The Buford, Ga., native began his coaching career with a three-year stint at Young Harris College where he helped the Mountain Lions to a 17-game improvement in 2011-12 with a 22-win season.
Morgan played two seasons at Kennesaw State, receiving 2006 Atlantic Sun Freshman of the Year honors, before transferring to North Georgia where he received All-Peach Belt Conference honors as a junior for the Nighthawks in 2008.
An excellent prep career saw Morgan earn 2005 McDonald’s All-America honorable mention recognition while also being named Class AA All-State by the Georgia Sports Writers Association as a senior averaging 20.3 points and 10.1 rebounds per game at Buford High School. He led the Wolves to the state semifinals with a 23-8 record his final season and finished his career as the school’s all-time leading scorer with 1,503 points.
