The 2015-16 season marks the beginning of Lane’s tenure with the Middle Tennessee softball program. She will join Breeden’s staff and fill the role of hitting coach for the Blue Raiders.
Lane comes to Middle Tennessee after spending last season as a volunteer assistant hitting coach at the University of Kentucky, where she helped the team reach the Gainesville Super Regional in 2015.
Lane previously served as an assistant coach at Brighton High School in Brighton, Mich., where she worked with the team's infielders and outfielders as well as handling the hitting coach duties.
A standout second baseman for the University of Michigan from 2010-13, Lane was a career .316 hitter and boasted a .363 average her senior season. Her final campaign included a two-run double and later a game-winning home run against Louisiana-Lafayette to help send the Wolverines to the Women's College World Series.
Lane finished her career fourth all-time at Michigan in home runs (47), fourth in slugging (.615) and fifth on the RBI list (171). The Escondido, Calif., native played high school softball at Escondido High School, where she won back-to-back CIF Division 1 state titles and three straight Valley League championships. She was also a member of the Orange County Batbusters club team.
