Marissa Sexton begins her second season at Middle Tennessee after joining the Sports Medicine team in 2018-19. She previously worked as an assistant athletic trainer at New Mexico State and helped oversee more than 300 NCAA student-athletes.
Sexton works directly with women's basketball at Middle Tennessee, as well as supervising the athletic training graduate assistants. Other responsibilities include education of graduate and undergraduate athletic training curriculum in the classroom and training room, in addition to supply ordering and other administrative duties.
At New Mexico State, Sexton was primarily responsible for men's basketball, men's golf, women's volleyball and equestrian.
In addition to her time at New Mexico State, Sexton also worked as an athletic trainer at Saint Leo University in Saint Leo, Fla., where she provided primary coverage for baseball, women's soccer and men's and women's golf.
Sexton earned her Bachelors of Science degree in athletic training at Indiana, where she also served as a student athletic trainer. She would later serve as a graduate assistant at Saint Leo University, where she earned her Masters of Business.
Sexton is certified by the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA) and she is a BOC Certified Athletic Trainer, AHA Healthcare Provider (CPR/AED), and she has NSCA CSCS Certification.
