Head Women's Golf Coach Coach Chris Adams came to Murfreesboro in December of 2007, and now entering her 17th season at Middle Tennessee she continues to lead the Blue Raider program to new heights.
The longest tenured coach in Blue Raider Women's Golf history, Adams led her team to back-to-back Conference USA Championships and NCAA Regional berths in 2015 and 2016. Her teams have a history of strong performance in the postseason, finishing second or better at the conference championship eight times and third or better on 10 occasions. The 2022-23 Blue Raiders earned a berth to the first-ever National Golf Invitational.
The 2020-21 season saw the Blue Raiders scratch and claw their way through a challenging, pandemic-ridden season to claim five Top 5 team finished in eight events, capped of by a second place finish at the Conference USA Championships behind only No. 1 seed North Texas, who was ranked inside the Top 35 in the nation.
In 2019, Adams led her first ever individual qualifier to NCAA Regionals as C-USA Golfer of the Year and CoSIDA Academic All-American Hanley Long finished the regular season ranked No. 119 nationally, good enough to earn a spot in the NCAA Auburn Regional at Saugahatchee Country Club.
The 2017 Conference USA Championship saw Blue Raider sophomore Jenna Burris take home the individual title, making her the sixth Top 5 finisher at the C-USA Championship in a span of four seasons.
The Blue Raiders won their second consecutive Conference USA Championship in 2016 to earn a berth in the NCAA Shoal Creek Regional as the No. 14 seed.
Middle Tennessee took home three team titles in total during the 2015-16 campaign, capturing its fourth Blue Raider Invitational title in five years while also winning the Web.com Intercollegiate in its first appearance in the tournament. MT finished in the top four spots in eight of their 10 events during the season.
Avery George became the eighth Blue Raider to take home an individual title under the leadership of Adams when she won the 2015 Blue Raider Invitational. Middle Tennessee notched eight individual finishes in the top five and 17 in the top 10 on the year.
Adams was named Conference USA Coach of the Year for the second consecutive season in 2016 while an unprecedented five Blue Raiders were named to All-Conference USA Teams.
The Coach of the Year honor was the third for Adams, who was named Sun Belt Coach of the Year in 2012 prior to Middle Tennessee’s move to C-USA. She has now coached 25 all-conference selections at Middle Tennessee (18 C-USA, seven Sun Belt).
Adams has also led her players to excel in the classroom, coaching 43 Blue Raiders who have been named WGCA/NGCA All-American Scholars. In addition, she has had 64 golfers named C-USA Academic Medal Winners (3.75-4.00 GPA) and 67 named to the C-USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll (3.00-4.00 GPA).
Prior to joining the C-USA, Adams coached 26 players who were named to the Sun Belt Commissioner’s List (3.50-4.00 GPA) and 20 more who were named to the Sun Belt Academic Honor Roll (3.0-3.49 GPA).
The Blue Raiders have also held a perfect 1000 APR for nine consecutive seasons and 11 of 12 through the 2019-20 season, all under the direction of Adams. In 2013-14, 2014-15 and 2015-16, 2016-17, 2017-18, 2018-19 and 2019-20 the program was recognized for being in the top 10% of all NCAA Division I golf programs in APR.
Prior to taking over the Middle Tennessee women's golf program in Dec. 2007, Adams served as the head women's golf coach at Arkansas State since April 2002. There, she developed two All-Sun Belt selections and led the team to its first tournament win since 2001 in Sept. 2007 at the ULM/Fred Marx Invitational. Her program was also successful in the classroom with four players being named to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll and the Sun Belt's Commissioner's List.
Prior to her time at Arkansas State, Adams served as head coach at Wichita State from 1997 to 2002 and led her teams to runner-up finishes in the Missouri Valley Conference in 1998 and 1999. While there, she helped lower the team scoring average by 10 strokes over a two-year period and led her team to scoring records in 1999, 2000, and 2001.
During that span, she produced 10 all-conference selections and three first-team selections to the MVC All-Scholar team. She also had 16 Valley "Golfers of the Week" and 16 named to the Wichita State Athletics Director's Honor Roll.
After beginning her golf career at John Jacobs Practical Golf School in Scottsdale, Ariz., Adams served as assistant golf professional at Bonaventure Country Club in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and at the Fort Lauderdale Country Club in Plantation, Fla.
A 1991 graduate of Kansas State, Adams received her bachelor's degree in psychology. She was a member of the varsity golf team and received the Lucille Boyd Scholarship for four years, which is awarded to the school's top female golfer.
A native of Beaver, Okla., she earned all-state honors as a junior and senior in basketball and golf at Beaver High School.
