After his hiring on Aug. 21, 2015, Chattanooga native David Henry helped coach Middle Tennessee's women's tennis to a 14-8-1 record in his first season with the Blue Raiders.
"I'm so excited to have David on our coaching staff. He is eager to pursue a career in college coaching and has a great work ethic," said head coach Charlie Ramsay. "We're very fortunate to have him join our staff."
Brittany Huxley was named All-Conference USA First Team Singles and also First Team Doubles alongside partner Giulia Squadrin following the completion of Ramsay and Henry's first season.
Henry played four years of tennis at Memphis, where he played every singles and doubles position in the lineup throughout his collegiate career.
As a sophomore, he won the B2 singles flight at the Steve Baras Memorial Tournament. The following fall, he and his doubles partner notched a preseason ITA doubles ranking of No. 47. They ended the spring 2011 season ranked No. 82.
In the summer before his senior season, Henry took home a doubles ITA event win in St. Louis, Mo. He was ranked No. 76 in doubles by the end of his senior season. When the Tigers took on Ole Miss, Henry and his partner took down a doubles team that ended the season ranked No. 10. He recieved All-Conference USA First Team Doubles honors on his way to leading his team to the first ever NCAA appearance in program history.
"He had a great playing career at Memphis and really understands what it takes to play college tennis at the highest level. I truly believe the kids will respond to him and learn so much from him," Ramsay added.
Henry played five years of varsity tennis at McCallie School in Chattanooga racking up three consecutive team state titles from 2006-08. He graduated from the University of Memphis in August 2012 with a Bachelor of Business Administration.
