Volleyball Falls to FIU in Final Home Game

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee volleyball (9-21, 4-10 SBC) dropped their final home game Saturday to Sun Belt Conference foe Florida International (19-7, 9-5, SBC) in four 22-30, 30-28, 25-30, 22-30 in Murphy Center.
Junior Katie Thiesen, from Rockford, IL, moved into fifth place in the Middle Tennessee record books with 923 career kills. She needed just three kills, and got eight in the match, to overtake Lindsay Pritchard who had 917.
Junior Erin Hillstrom and freshman Shakeithia Deckard paced the Lady Raiders with a double-double night. Deckard had 14 kills and 15 digs and Hillstrom added 13 kills and 12 kills.
Florida International's Nirvana Koss, who is the career kill leader for the Panthers, led all scorers with a double-double of 20 kills and 15 digs. She was one of three FIU players with a double-double which also included Adriana Fundora with 19 kills and 15 digs and Vanessa Gonzalez-Vinas with 10 kills and 25 digs.
Next up for the Lady Raiders is the Sun Belt Conference Tournament in Denver, CO. Middle Tennessee, who is seeded fourth, will play the Sun Belt West's No. 5 seed New Orleans Wednesday Nov. 14 at 8:30 pm MT.
