Blue Raiders Host MT Men's Fall Invitational

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The Middle Tennessee men's tennis team will host the MT Fall Invitational beginning Friday morning and running through Sunday at the Buck Bouldin Tennis Center on the MT campus. Fourteen teams will be represented in the three-day event, with three flights of singles and two flights of doubles competition set to take place. Flight I singles has 31 players, including MT's Oliver Foreman and Michael Staniak as the third and fourth seed, respectively. Also taking part in Flight I for coach Dale Short's squad are Kirk Jackson and Trevor Short. Jackson and Staniak begin play at 8:30 a.m. Friday, taking on Samford's Raphael Bohli and Evansville's Anthony Wollsschlager, respectively. Short plays at 10:30 a.m. against Ilie Raven from Tennessee Tech, while Foreman battles Marcus Rutsche of Austin Peay at 11 a.m. Freshman Greg Pollack will take part in Flight II singles play, taking on Samford's Clive Yeo at 8:30 a.m. Friday morning. Doubles action begins late Friday afternoon, with three Blue Raiders squads entered in Flight I. The duo of Daniel Klemetz and Short drew a bye and will not play until Saturday afternoon, while the tandem of Pollack and Staniak will take on Clemens Klein and Wollsschlager at 4:30 p.m. Friday. Foreman and Jackson will also play together in doubles competition, battling Mithu Murali and Mariano Pettigrosso of Arkansas-Little Rock at 5 p.m. Friday. In all, 80 singles players and 31 doubles teams will take part in the event, with champions crowned Sunday. Semifinals and finals action will take place in all three singles flights on Sunday, while the doubles will hold only finals competition on the last day of play. The Blue Raider men's team will next take part in the Southern Intercollegiates in Athens, Ga., September 21-24.
