MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -- The Middle Tennessee Blue Raider and Lady Raider cross country teams will run in the 21st Annual WKU Old Timers Classic Saturday in Bowling Green, Ky., at Kereiakes Park.
The Lady Raiders will run a 5K race beginning at 10 a.m., followed by the men at 10:45 a.m. in a five-mile race. Participating teams include Eastern Kentucky, Kentucky, Western Kentucky, WKU Alumni Men and Middle Tennessee.
Geoffrey Lagat finished second at this race last season, while Levi Sybert was 13th in 2001 for the Blue Raiders.
"Right now we're still trying to get our women's team together because we lost most everyone from last year," Middle Tennessee head coach Dean Hayes said. "We hope two or three of the women will do well, and we're really looking toward the Sun Belt Championships and gaining momentum heading into that.
"As for the men, three are recovering from stress fractures from last spring, including Geoffrey [Lagat]. So right now we're just trying to round into shape as the season progresses and get ready for the conference championships in early November."
Middle Tennessee will next run at Louisville Invitational in Louisville, Ky., on October 5.
