MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee volleyball (8-13, 1-4 Sun Belt) got in the win column in the Sun Belt with a 3-1 (30-28, 30-32, 28-30, 30-24) win over Florida International (10-7, 2-3 SBC) Sunday in Alumni Memorial Gym.
The Lady Raiders jumped on top of FIU by winning the first two games and was in control of the third until the Panthers fought back to take game three. Middle Tennessee took control in game four and weathered an FIU rally to take the game and the match.
"The team's focus was a lot better today because we were only looking ahead to the next point," said head coach Lisa Kissee. "This was a big win for us today because we finally got a victory in the Sun Belt and it was a great way to open a home stand."
KeKe Deckard continues to lead the Lady Raider offense as she recorded 22 kills in the match. Senior Karisse Baker also had double figure kills with 15 and Dara McLean, who had struggled as of late, bounced back with 13 kills.
Megan Sumrell led the team in assists with 29 and also notched 12 digs. Goldie Bilyeu followed with 26 assists.
Middle Tennessee returns to action on Friday when the team hosts Sun Belt Conference West's Denver at 7 p.m. in Alumni Memorial Gym.
