The Lady Raiders are coming off a 3-1 victory over Sun Belt rival Florida International, which also marked the team's first win in the conference. Entering into the middle portion of the Sun Belt schedule, Middle Tennessee steps out of the Eastern division and faces off against members of the West.
"The win over FIU was big for the team," said head coach Lisa Kisee. "It showed the team that if they battle through a game it pays off."
Middle Tennessee is expecting a battle with Denver who boasts a 13-7 overall record and a 4-2 record in the Sun Belt. The Pioneers have dropped matches to North Texas and Sun Belt West leading New Mexico State and average 14.68 kills per game.
"Denver will be a very tough match-up for us," Kissee said. "They are a very consistent team with a good setter and the outside hitters set great blocks."
Middle Tennessee will rely on junior outside hitter KeKe Deckard who just broke the school record for kills in a career with 1,389. She moves past former Lady Raider Mary Rickman who had 1,301.
