MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The Middle Tennessee cross country teams will both participate in the UTC Invitational in Chattanooga, Tenn., Saturday at Moccasin Bend, the final tune-up before the conference championships in two weeks. Freshman David Hughes led the Blue Raiders two weeks ago at the Cardinal XC Classic in Louisville, Ky., as senior Geoffrey Lagat missed the event with an injured toe. Lagat should return Saturday in Chattanooga, where the Kapsabet, Kenya, native finished second at the UTC Opener in early September. Freshman Kim Alsobrook has been the top finisher for the Lady Raiders in all four meets this season, including running 14:21 at the UTC Opener. Alsobrook's top finish was a 32nd-place showing at the WKU Old Timers Classic in Bowling Green four weeks ago. The Hardee's Sun Belt Championships are set for Saturday, November 1, in Bowling Green, Ky., at Kereiakes Park, where Lagat will aim for his third conference championship in four years.
