Middle Tennessee Comes From Behind to Defeat FIU

MIAMI, Fla. - Florida International built a 2-0 lead against Middle Tennessee but the Lady Raiders came back to win, 3-2 (24-30, 28-30, 30-27, 30-22, 15-8), in Sun Belt Conference volleyball action Sunday afternoon at the Golden Panther Arena.
Middle Tennessee (11-16, 3-7 Sun Belt East) moves up to seventh place in the Sun Belt Conference with the win, while FIU (11-13, 3-8 Sun Belt East) and New Orleans - 3-1 losers to North Texas this afternoon - are now tied for eighth in the Sun Belt standings.
The Lady Raiders received a strong performance today from Karisse Baker, who led all players with 23 kills and a .452 hitting percentage.
FIU held the Lady Raiders to a .086 hitting percentage through the first two games.
In game one, the Golden Panthers took 15 of the final 18 points to win the game 30-24. Fundora and Jones each had five kills, while Owens added four kills with no errors, hitting .571 for the game.
Similar to the first game, FIU won 11 of the last 15 points to win the second game, 30-28. Baker tallied eight kills in game three to lead Middle Tennessee.
The Lady Raiders held the Golden Panthers to a .027 hitting percentage through the final two games en route to the victory.
Middle Tennessee returns home for a five-match home stand to complete the regular season. The Lady Raiders host Austin Peay Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Alumni Memorial Gym.
