MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -- Former Middle Tennessee All-American Daniel Klemetz has played very well very quickly in his move to the professional circuit this month, making the semifinals of his first tournament and qualifying for the main draw of this week's Futures event in Lachine, Canada.
Klemetz won three matches in qualifying at the Mississauga, Ontario, Futures event earlier this month, defeating Andrew Smith (6-4, 6-1), John Reckewey (6-2, 6-2) and Peter Richman (6-4, 6-2) to qualify for the main draw at the event.
The Vanersborg, Sweden, native then took care of Amadeus Fulford-Jones (6-2, 6-2), Keith From (7-6, 6-3) and former LSU star Jason Hazley (4-6, 6-3, 6-2) to reach the tourney semifinals. Klemetz fell to former Auburn All-American and personal nemesis Rameez Junaid, 3-6, 3-6, in the semis.
Two-time All-American Klemetz won three matches over the weekend in Lachine to qualify for the main draw again, defeating Jean Francois-Berard (6-3, 6-2), Olivier Taschereau (6-2, 6-1) and Jimmy Haney (6-1, 6-0). The lefthander is set to take on American Marc Silva in the first round of the main draw.
