MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -- Eight Middle Tennessee tracksters will compete Saturday at the Last Chance Invitational in Ames, Iowa, the final chance for competitors to qualify for next week's NCAA Indoor Championships.
The men's 4x400-meter relay will look to solidify a spot in next week's national championships. Mardy Scales, Xavier Darden, Tim Hicks and Sean Waller won the mile relay at the Sun Belt Championships last week in a season-best 3:10.15, the 14th fastest time in the nation this year. Victor Okorie will run for Scales in Ames this week as Scales prepares to run next week in the 60-meters. Darden will compete in the open 200-meters on Saturday, as well.
Hurdlers Garland Martin and Linnie Yarbrough will run in the 60-meter hurdles. Martin's time of 7.78 ranks ninth nationally this season while Yarbrough's mark of 7.82 is 23rd best this season.
For the Lady Raiders, Rosemary Okafor and Kishara George will both run in the 400-meters. George's mark of 54.26 run last week at the SBC Championships is 34th best this year, while Okafor's time of 54.29 is the 36th fastest this year.
