The Blue Raiders are riding a seven-match winning streak, with six of those wins coming against Sun Belt opponents. Middle Tennessee's 21-2 record is the second best mark in school history and the squad has the best record among Division I volleyball teams in the state of Tennessee. The team is also undefeated in the month of October.
Nationally, Middle Tennessee is ranked 11th in win-loss percentage at .913. The team is also ranked No. 50 in the latest RPI.
Middle Tennessee is facing a Louisiana-Lafayette squad with a record of 4-14 and 1-4 in the Sun Belt West. The Ragin' Cajuns are one of two remaining teams from the West the Blue Raiders have left to face. The squad will finish the regular season with a home match with South Alabama on November 13.
"This will be a tough match for us," admits Middle Tennessee Head Coach Matt Peck. "I have told the players that we will have to be at the top of our game against Louisiana-Lafayette."
The Blue Raiders are led by junior Andressa Lyra who is averaging 4.72 kills per game, which leads the Sun Belt Conference. The squad will also rely on current Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week Alicia Lemau'u, who is averaging 4.96 digs per game.
Middle Tennessee will play its final Sun Belt road match on October 28 when the team travels to Miami, Florida to take on Florida International.
