Bailes tied for first; Blue Raiders just three shots back

Host South Florida owns the day one lead with a 300 followed by Florida Southern in second with a 301. Columbus State and Frances Marion are tied for third with a 302, while the Blue Raiders and Kansas State are tied for fifth with a 303.
"Our young guys played really well today," said Head Coach Johnny Moore. "We just lacked some consistency from our seniors. If they begin to pick up there play then we will have a chance at success in this tourney."
Nick Bailes shot a one-under par 71 to tie for first place overall. Bailes paced the field with a 3.91 scoring average on the par 4s.
Junior Patrick McLennan is tied for 14th with a 75, while Josh Nelms carded a 77 to tie for 27th. Kenny Green, who paced the team at the Tulane Invitational earlier in the week, is tied for 55th after firing a disappointing 80.
Blake Bivens rounded out the scoring with an 80 to also tie for 55th.
The Blue Raiders will play round two on Saturday before concluding the tournament on Sunday.
