Middle Tennessee dropped game one 2-1. It was scoreless through three innings before Chattanooga converted three walks and a hit by a pitch, by Blue Raider pitcher Laura Moore, into two runs.
Chattanooga's Tara Tembey was hit by a pitch to start the fourth inning and Ashleigh Bull drew her second walk of the game to place runners at first and second. A single by Alyssa Edwards, with one out, loaded the bases and Moore walked Toni Hutchison to score Tembey for the first run. A fielder's choice RBI plated the second run of the inning.
Martha Davis hit a sacrifice fly to right field to score Samantha Floyd in the top of the seventh inning for the Middle Tennessee's only run of the game. The Blue Raiders had five hits in the game but stranded eight runners.
Moore took the loss in the game. She went four innings allowing two runs on four hits. Moore was replaced by Trish White who finished out the game.
Muriel Ledbetter opened up the second inning of the second game with her ninth homerun of the season to give the Blue Raiders the early 1-0 lead. Chattanooga came back in its half of the second inning on an Edwards' homerun over centerfield wall.
Back-to-back homeruns by Tembey and Bull gave the Lady Mocs the lead. Floyd started the game on the mound, giving up both homeruns, lasting 3.1 innings before being replaced by White.
With two outs, it was Justine Cerda that started a rally for the Blue Raiders in the top of the fourth inning with a single. Shelby Stiner's single to center field advanced Cerda to third and set up an RBI single by Martha Davis. Melissa Weiland drew a walk to load the bases and Ledbetter made Chattanooga pay by hitting a base-clearing double to give the Blue Raiders a 5-3 lead.
In the bottom of the seventh inning, Moore came into the game in relief and gave up a grand-slam homerun to Tembey to win the game for the Lady Mocs. Moore picks up her second loss of the day and falls to 8-13.
Middle Tennessee returns to action on Wednesday to host Austin Peay in its last non-conference home games of the season. The doubleheader, with the Lady Govs, begins at 4 p.m. in the newly renovated Blue Raider Field.
