Raiders Head to Kentucky Invitational

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -- Middle Tennessee's track and field teams resume their indoor season at this weekend's Kentucky Invitational at Nutter Fieldhouse in Lexington, Ky.
The Blue Raiders won seven events at the MT Christmas Invitational on December 9 at Murphy Center, with junior Stephanie Tamgho claiming victories in both the long and triple jump.
Freshman Brittany Cox won the shot put at the meet and freshman William Songock continued his excellent work in the distance events, carrying over from cross country with a first-place finish in the mile run. Also senior Pierre Ingram placed first in the high jump.
Middle Tennessee should have a full team of athletes available for this weekend's events, including senior All-American Juan Walker in the jump and hurdles and senior All-American Orlando Reid in the sprints.
Participating teams at the event include Alabama, Arkansas State, East Tennessee, Eastern Kentucky, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Louisville, Michigan (women only), Middle Tennessee, Marshall (women only), Ohio State, Tennessee, Western Kentucky and Wright State (women only).
Action begins Friday at 5 p.m. with the men's and women's weight throw, the women's pole vault, the men's high jump, the men's and women's triple jump and the men's and women's discus. Events begins Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Live statistics will be available at ukathletics.com.
Middle Tennessee hosts the Blue Raider Invitational on January 20 at Murphy Center.
