MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee softball returns to Blue Raider Field this weekend after a momentous mid-week triumph over No. 15 Louisiana-Lafayette. The Blue Raiders became the first league member in history to take a Sun Belt series from the Ragin Cajuns.
The Blue Raiders will defend their 2-1 Sun Belt Conference record on Saturday and Sunday when the club hosts Troy. Middle Tennessee has an overall record of 11-13 and the Trojans are 15-5 and will be playing their first Sun Belt series of the season.
The most memorable recent meeting between Middle Tennessee and Troy was the 13- inning marathon they played in the second game of the doubleheader last season. With the score tied at six, Katie Mielke hit a frozen rope to center field to score Melissa Weiland and Muriel Ledbetter for the win. Sam Floyd came into the game in the fourth inning, as a relief pitcher, and ended up tossing the final 10 innings and getting the win.
First pitch on Saturday, in doubleheader action, begins at 1 p.m. The single game on Sunday begins at 12 p.m.
