MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - After a sixth place finish at the Susie Maxwell Berning Classic, the Middle Tennessee women's golf team is looking to rebound at the USF/Waterlefe Invitational at the Waterlefe Golf Club in Bradenton, Fla.
"After the last tournament, it's important that we go out there and put up some good numbers," said head coach Chris Adams. "The field also has FAU, Louisiana-Monroe and South Alabama in it, which should be nice. We don't normally get to see conference opponents this early in the year, so it should give us an idea on how we match up when the spring rolls around."
Olivia Love is entering the event after posting some of the top Blue Raider scores in both of the first two tournaments of the season, finishing 11th at the Susie Maxwell Berning Classic and tied for 25th at the Great Smokies Women's Intercollegiate.
Ashley Haggard has had a solid start to the fall campaign as well. The sophomore had an impressive showing at the Great Smokies Women's Intercollegiate earlier in the season, carding a second round 67 to finish tied for 12th.
Also making the trip to Florida will be Karisa Akin, Stephanie Smith and Steph Gough. Akin and Smith each competed in the first two events and are each averaging 76.8 strokes per round. Gough last played at the Great Smokies Women's Intercollegiate and shot a 10-over 154 to finish tied for 66th.
The Blue Raiders will begin play at the USF/Waterlefe Invitational on Monday with a 36-hole day and conclude on Tuesday with 18. Daily recaps will be available at GoBlueRaiders.com and live scoring will be provided at www.golfstat.com.
