MARANA, Ariz. - For the second straight year, Middle Tennessee will compete in the prestigious Callaway Collegiate Match Play event beginning March 21-23. On Wednesday (March 17), Golfweek TV will debut the Callaway Match Play seeding show to determine the first round matches.
The 2010 event will take place at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club at Dove Mountain which has hosted the PGA's Accenture Match Play Championship the past two years.
The 2010 Callaway Match Play Championship features 16 of the elite teams in the country including reigning NCAA Champion Texas A&M. The rest of the field consists of Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado State, Indiana, Iowa, Middle Tennessee, New Mexico, San Diego, Southern Cal, Stanford, TCU, Texas Tech, UCLA, UNLV, and Washington.
The 32nd ranked Blue Raiders will be making their second straight appearance in this elite event. Middle Tennessee was invited to the 2009 tournament after finishing among the Top 15 at the 2008 NCAA Championships, and then was invited back this year after winning the 2009 tournament.
"This is a great tournament at an incredible venue," said Head Coach Whit Turnbow. "Our players love the setting and enjoy match play. We are very excited about the opportunity to play against some of the best teams in the country."
