MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - With the season beginning to wind down, Middle Tennessee will be looking to continue its recent hot streak with a non-conference clash against Georgia Tech on Wednesday night.
The Blue Raiders (13-9) are entering the match with the hopes of picking up a 12th consecutive victory and another valuable win for postseason consideration.
"I think our team realizes that we need a win over this team to improve our RPI," head coach Matt Peck said. "We've played them pretty close the last two years, and I have no doubt that they will challenge us in every aspect of the match. Both teams are looking for another big win to up our at-large chances, and I think it'll be a pretty good match."
Middle Tennessee is coming off of a pair of 3-0 road victories this weekend at Lousiana and ULM. Led by the outstanding play of Maria Szivos, who tallied 24 kills and 17 digs over the six sets, Middle Tennessee has now swept seven straight opponents and 10 out of the last 11.
Middle Tennessee holds an all-time 2-2 record vs. Georgia Tech, but have won the previous two, including a 3-1 victory in Atlanta last season. While former Blue Raider Izabela Kozon had a standout day in the meeting, the trio of Brandi Waller, Oyinlola Oladinni and Szivos combined for 32 kills, helping MT out-hit the Yellow Jackets .280 to .193.
The Blue Raiders and Yellow Jackets will begin play at Alumni Memorial Gym on Wednesday. First serve is set for 6:30 p.m.
