Raiders fall to Louisville on Tuesday

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The Middle Tennessee volleyball team fell to Louisville in three sets on Tuesday night in front of a season-high 931 fans at Alumni Memorial Gym. In the loss, the Blue Raiders fall to 13-8, while the Cardinals improve to 12-7.
Sophomore Chelsea Ross led the Blue Raiders with a double-double of 13 kills and 10 digs in the defeat. Sophomore Shelby Anderton had a team-high 20 assists.
MT hit .346 in the first set while the Blue Raiders limited themselves to four attack errors. Ross, redshirt-sophomore Tyler Richardson, sophomore Rachel Shaughnessy and redshirt-freshman Jazmyne Johnson combined to hit .667 (10k-0e-10ta) in the frame, but Louisville outlasted MT, 25-21.
The Cardinals took control of the match in the second set, outhitting the Blue Raiders, .324-.154 in a 25-17 win. That trend continued in the third set, with Louisville outhitting MT, .300-.065. A late charge by the Blue Raiders was not enough, as the Cardinals closed out the three-set victory with a 25-20 decision in the third set.
Tuesday's crowd was the largest for a regular-season match at Alumni Memorial Gym since 953 fans packed the building for a match vs. Western Kentucky on Oct. 20, 2008.
The Blue Raiders return to C-USA play on Friday with a 7:00 p.m. match at AMG vs. Southern Miss.
