Montalvo earns Jennie Finch Award in NPF

HOOVER, Ala. – Middle Tennessee softball assistant coach and current third baseman for the Akron Racers of the National Pro Fastpich Kelley Montalvo, earned two awards at the 2014 National Pro Fastpitch Award Banquet Tuesday.
Montalvo was selected as one of 19 members to the 2014 All-NPF team. She received an at large selection and was one of five Racers to receive recognition.
In addition, she received the fourth annual Jennie Finch Award, which is given to a player who best exemplifies the character and qualities of Jennie Finch, who has impacted the game of softball both on and off the field.
Montalvo and the Racers opened the 2014 NPF Championship Week with a 2-1 victory of the Chicago Bandits Wednesday, before dropping a 4-1 contest to the Bandits Thursday. The pair of teams are slated to play another game today at 11:00 a.m. at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium.
