MT to Host WKU, Marshall for Pink Weekend

The Blue Raiders will play Friday and Sunday
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – After starting C-USA play 3-0 for the first time in school history, the Middle Tennessee soccer team will look to keep rolling when the squad hosts WKU on Oct.9 and Marshall on Oct. 11 for Pink Weekend.
Last Sunday, the Blue Raiders defeated Charlotte, 1-0, at home to move to 7-3-1 on the season. Defender Kerri Cook provided the game's only goal in the 82' and goalkeeper Kelsey Brouwer recorded her best save of the match at the 90'.
MT's sixth shutout earned Brouwer her second C-USA Goalkeeper of the Week award of the season. She made seven saves and has a 0.70 goals-against average on the year.
WKU will enter Friday's match with a 6-3-3 record and a 2-1-1 mark in league play. The Lady Hilltoppers are fresh off of a win at UTSA in which they scored the game's only goal in the first minute of the second half.
Western Kentucky is tied for third in the C-USA standings, but is ninth in goals (15) and seventh in goals allowed (17).
For Marshall, the Thundering Herd will play at UAB two days before squaring off against MT, but currently hold a 9-1-3 record. MU has gone to overtime in its two previous games, defeating UTSA, 2-1, and tying UTEP, 1-1.
Marshall is the most prolific team in the C-USA in terms of getting off shots and has taken 229 on the year. The Herd is also stout defensively and is only allowing 0.62 goals per match.
The Blue Raiders will host WKU on Friday at 7 p.m. and Marshall on Sunday at 2 p.m. MT will be celebrating Pink Weekend in honor of breast cancer awareness month and fans are encouraged to wear pink.

· Senior Grace Summers scored the opening goal of the season at Tennessee Tech on Aug. 23 and again on Sept. 25 against Southern Miss. She led the Blue Raiders in points in 2014 with 14.
· Defender Emily Jorgenson leads the Blue Raiders in goals with three. The senior has scored against Western Carolina (Aug. 30), Lipscomb (Sept. 10) and UAB (Sept. 27).
· Middle Tennessee is on pace to give up the fewest amount of goals in a season in school history. MT is only allowing 0.7 scores per game, which would equate to 12.6 in the regular season. The record for fewest goals given up is 19 in 2013.
· The Blue Raiders notched six shutouts during the first 11 games of the season. The school record for most clean sheets is nine in 2003 and 2011.
· Middle Tennessee is averaging 0.91 goals per game this season. 2014 marked the lowest goals per game output of the Rhoden era at 1.0.
· MT is outshooting opponents, 165-117 this season, 92-61 after halftime.
· Middle Tennessee has scored the fewest goals in C-USA this season (10), but is tied for second in goals allowed (eight).
· Kelsey Brouwer on the all-time MT lists: 266 saves (2nd), 30 wins (2nd), 23 shutouts (1st).
· If the season ended today, Brouwer's .862 save percentage would be best in school history.
