MT's Offensive Slump Continues

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee's recent offensive woes continued during an 11-0 setback to Memphis Wednesday at FedEx Park.
The Blue Raiders managed just three hits against four Memphis hurlers, including two in the final inning. Only two Raiders reached second base.
"Right now we're in a funk offensively and we just can't get it going," head coach Jim McGuire said. "We got exposed the last two days and we have to get it corrected. We're a much better team than what we've shown."
Senior Dustin Delgado doubled in the third inning, extending his reached-base streak to 29 games dating back to last season. After batting third the past two games, Delgado was re-inserted at the top of the lineup on Wednesday.
Junior Ronnie Jebavy singled to increase his hitting streak to 11 games, while sophomore Brad Jarreau also produced a base knock.
Memphis scored first with a run in the third and plated five more in the fourth to go up 6-0. Three innings later, the Tigers put the game out of reach by pushing five more runs across.
Six Blue Raiders appeared on the mound, as junior LHP Tyler Troutt made his debut as a starter. Troutt tossed three innings and gave up one run on four hits. Redshirt freshman LHP Benji Cash was solid in relief, allowing one hit across three scoreless frames.
Memphis starter Alex Gunn threw six shutout innings of one-hit ball in his season debut. The Tigers racked up 14 hits and were led by Tyler Dixon's 3-for-3 effort.
The Blue Raiders will look to rebound when they open league play this weekend. MT will host UAB in a three-game series set to begin at 6 p.m. Friday night at Reese Smith Jr. Field.
