Blue Raiders open tournament in San Diego

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee men's tennis heads west to play in the Hilton San Diego Mission Valley Spring Classic on Thursday.
The Blue Raiders open up play against Harvard on San Diego State's campus at 12 p.m. The Crimson is ranked 22nd nationally and have a top-10 doubles pair in Denis Nguyen and Brian Yeung. Nguyen is also ranked No. 47 in singles play this season.
After that match MT will see the likes of either SDSU or Drake in the next round. The Drake Bulldogs are the defending champions in the tournament and are ranked 33rd in the country, while the Aztecs are ranked No. 38 nationally and are 10-4 this season.
Also featured in the tournament is No. 30 San Diego, No. 32 Princeton, No. 43 Denver and Indiana.
The Blue Raiders hold a 9-5 record as they go into the week in California.
Gian Issa, Ben Davis, Miguel Negre Fernandez and Ettore Zito have all earned C-USA Player of the Week this year.
Yannick Born is undefeated in singles competition this season and is riding a seven-match win streak.
