Blue Raiders ready to defend MT Shootout Crown

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee men's tennis hosts seven teams as the MT Shootout is set to kick off on Friday.
Traveling to this year's MT Shootout is No. 61 nationally ranked Old Dominion, Southern Miss, South Alabama, Binghamton, Depaul, SIU and Illinois State.
The Blue Raiders open the tournament against Illinois State at 2 p.m. on Friday on the same side of the bracket as ODU and Binghamton. Weather permitting, MT will be on their home courts at the Buck Bouldin Tennis Complex. The Redbirds are 6-9 this year heading into the shootout.
The Blue Raiders took the MT Shootout crown last year after defeating Georgia State in the final.
Yannick Born is getting hot in singles play and is 8-2 in his last 10 matches. The Blue Raiders are 9-8 this season but 7-3 when at home.
Middle Tennessee has earned four Conference USA Player of the Week Accolades this season in a span of 10 weeks. Fellow C-USA foes USM and ODU join the competition in the shootout with the Monarchs holding one weekly honor and the Golden Eagles with one as well.
