Highest Team Finish This Spring
FINAL TEAM STANDINGS | FINAL INDIVIDUAL STANDINGS
STOCKBRIDGE, Ga. – No. 53 Middle Tennessee finished second at the John Kirk Panther Intercollegiate Tuesday after a back and forth battle with Troy. The Blue Raiders finished five strokes behind the Trojans with a tournament total of 897, including a third-round 297.
The second place total is the highest team finish in three spring tournaments for the Blue Raiders.
Three Blue Raiders finished among the top 15, led by junior Avery George who played a strong and finished third overall on the individual board with a 54-hole total 218. George fired a 71 (-1) with three birdies on the front nine and recorded the only MT round under par.
Junior Emily Miller recorded her second top-10 finish of the spring with a 54-hole total of 223, placing her tied for seventh with three others. Miller posted totals of 72-77-74 with three birdies on the back nine during the final round.
Senior Allie Knight carded a team-high four birdies on Tuesday and finished tied for 13th. Knight's three-round total came to 227 after a 74 during the final round.
Rounding out MT's lineup was sophomore Samantha Gotcher and junior Maddie Denton who both tied for 35th.
Competing as an individual, junior Emily Williams performed well and placed tied for 22nd overall with a total 232 tournament total.
Troy claimed the team title with Fatima Fern Cano representing the Trojans with low-medalist honors. Cano fired a tournament-low 67 and finished 6-under. Western Carolina, Eastern Kentucky and Georgia State rounded out the top five behind MT.
The Blue Raiders return to action Monday, April 6, at the Kansas City Shootout presented by Gary Crossley Ford in the final tune-up before the C-USA Championship.
