Blue Raiders Host Iowa Over Weekend

Two games Saturday; Finale Sunday
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee (7-2) returns to Reese Smith Jr. Field for a three-game series against Iowa (7-1) this weekend. The series opener, originally scheduled for Friday, has been moved back a day as the Blue Raiders and Hawkeyes are now set to play a Saturday doubleheader with a 1 p.m. first pitch in game one. The series finale is slated for 1 p.m. Sunday.
The Blue Raiders are coming off a rained out midweek contest at Tennessee in which they lead 4-0 in the third inning. Prior to getting washed out on Tuesday, MT won its third straight series by taking two-out-of-three at New Orleans last weekend.
SERIES HISTORY
Middle Tennessee and Iowa have only faced each other once in the past, an 11-9 Blue Raider victory on Feb. 26, 2005, as part of the Wiregrass Classic played in Dothan, Alabama.
GETTING OFFENSIVE
Middle Tennessee has been a force to be reckoned with at the plate. As a group, the Blue Raiders are hitting .303 and slugging .432 through nine games as five Raiders have recorded at least three doubles. MT is averaging 8.4 runs a game and has tallied 10 hits or more in six contests. Sophomore Brad Jarreau leads the way with league-highs in average (.469) and on-base percentage (.575), while senior Michael Adkins has supplied the power (.615 SLG%) with two home runs and a league-leading 16 RBI (Tied for 15th nationally).
STREAKING DELGADO
Senior Dustin Delgado has picked up where he left off last season with an active 24-game reached base streak that dates back to April 25, 2014. Delgado has reached base at an impressive .522 clip and also has an active eight-game hit streak while batting .412 (14-for-34) through nine games. Delgado connected on his first career home run at Tennessee before the stats were washed out along with the game.
CLOSER LOOK AT THE HAWKEYES
Iowa has won seven straight games since dropping its season opener to Kansas State. Most recently, the Hawkeyes swept a three-game series against Cincinnati last weekend, including a 13-inning shutout of the Bearcats in the series finale. Iowa's pitching staff enters the weekend with the NCAA's fifth-lowest team ERA of 1.30.
