Morillo Wins GT Tournament Over Teammate

Morillo won in three sets over Guillermo Artiz
ATLANTA, Ga. – Middle Tennessee men's tennis player Luis Morillo defeated teammate Guillermo Artiz, 2-6, 6-1, 6-3, to win the Gray Division at the Georgia Tech Invitational.
Morillo, who was competing in his first-ever collegiate event, made it to the finals by defeating Joseph Bishop from Georgia State in the semi-finals, 7-5, 6-3. Before that, he dispatched Kennesaw State's Sam Slade, 6-3, 6-2, and Georgia State's Christian Gochnauer, 3-6, 6-2, 6-2.
For Artiz, before falling in the championship, he won three straight matches including a thrilling three-setter against Taylor Cramer from UNCW.
MT sent Michael Apple in addition to the finalists to GT and he reached the Quarterfinals of the Navy Bracket. He notched a, 3-6, 7-6(2), 6-4, win over Giles Hussey of Georgia State in Round One.
MT will re-take the court on Oct. 2-3 for the Steve Baras Invitational at UTC.
