Named co-Offensive Player of the Week
MURFREESBORO – Middle Tennessee wide receiver Richie James was named the Conference USA Co-Offensive Player of the week as announced by the league office on Monday. James shared the honor with UTEP's Aaron Jones.
Forced to play quarterback after starter John Urzua was injured during the second series of Saturday's game against FAU, James turned in one of the greatest individual performances in NCAA history.
James rushed for a career-best 207 yards and three touchdowns while adding 120 yards and a score on four receptions. He became just the sixth player and first receiver in NCAA (FBS) history to rush for 200-plus yards and also have 100-plus yards receiving.
James had 403 total offensive yards and four TDs to go with 76 yards passing. With his performance, James broke the MT single-season receiving record (1,463 yards) while turning in the second-b est all-purpose performance with 327 yards.
This marks the eighth player of the week winner for the Blue Raiders this season. Under Rick Stockstill, Middle Tennessee has now won 67 conference player of the week awards.
