MT returns home to face in-state opponent
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The women's tennis program at Middle Tennessee returns from a two-game road trip in Texas to face the Chattanooga Mocs at the Adams Tennis Complex on Feb. 4 at 3 p.m.
The Mocs enter play on Thursday with a record of 0-3, with losses to Memphis, UAB and Tennessee. Although Chattanooga has started behind in every match this season by losing the doubles point, the No. 1 doubles combo of Kayla Jones and Kelsey Coots is 2-1, including a win in a tiebreak at Memphis.
"Chattanooga is a great team with experienced players and are very well coached," MT head coach Charlie Ramsay said. "They will come in hungry, and we have to be ready to go toe-to-toe with them. It will be a great test for us."
The ATC has been kind to the Blue Raiders so far this season, as they started off the year with wins over Belmont and Kennesaw State in the new facility.
Back-to-back road trips have set MT back to 2-4 on the year, with three of those losses coming to teams in the top 75. The Blue Raiders are coming off of a loss to McNeese State, who defeated MT, 4-3, in a neutral site matchup in Dallas.
"It will be awesome to have another home match at ATC in front of our fans," Ramsay added. "I hope everyone will come out and enjoy free food and great tennis."
The ATC will also be home to the 2016 Conference USA women's tennis championships on April 21-24.
There is free admission to all matches, and there will be free food for the match vs. the Mocs, while supplies last. Live stats will be available for all home matches. The Blue Raiders can be found on Twitter, @MT_WomensTennis.
