Delgado collects two hits in setback
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee fell behind early and could not recover as it dropped the opening game of a three-game series to UTSA, 12-1, at Reese Smith Jr., Field Thursday.
Riley Delgado led the Blue Raiders with a 2-for-3 effort that included one run scored. He was the only Middle Tennessee player with a multi-hit game, although Brad Jarreau, Aaron Aucker, Austin Dennis, Drew Huff, Kaleb King and Vaughn Shapen each had one hit.
Jarreau drove in Delgado with a two-out single in the bottom of the third to cut a 5-0 deficit to 5-1, but that would be the extent of the scoring for the Blue Raiders.
Jake Wyrick was the starter but last just two innings. After that, four different Blue Raiders took to the mound.
The teams are scheduled to play a single game Friday at 6 p.m. Senior Day festivities are scheduled to take place at 11:45 a.m. Saturday, prior to the scheduled noon start for the season finale.
