Blue Raiders set for VCU Invitational

MT to take on Morgan State, VCU and Liberty
RICHMOND, Va. — In its final tune-up before conference play, Middle Tennessee will take part in the VCU Invitational this weekend beginning with a double header against Morgan State and host VCU Friday.
MT's first serve against Morgan State is slated for 10 a.m. CT while the night cap against VCU will start at 6 p.m. CT. Live stats are available through VCU's Tournament Central page at http://vcuathletics.com/sports/wvball/2016-17/releases/20160914020ky9.
In their last outing, MT fell to Wake Forest on Wednesday night in Winston-Salem. Delaney Gallagher paced the Raiders with six kills and a pair of blocks.
Bailey Mason leads the team with 72 kills on the season for a 2.25 kills per set ratio. Defensively, Gallagher, Dora Peonia and Vonnie Covington total 56 blocks for the Blue Raiders.
Morgan State (0-11) is in search for its first win of the season. Natashia Barker leads the Bears with 85 kills on the season and has appeared in 34 of the team's 36 sets played.
VCU (5-6) is led by Alica Kandler who has tallied 109 kills on the season. Sahbria McLetchie is not far behind with 105 kills on the year, and fires at a team-best 3.62 hitting percentage.
Defensively, Rebekah Strange has totaled 207 digs on the year and boasts a 5.18 digs per set average. The Rams also pride themselves on blocking at the net with 94 blocks on the year. Jasmin Sneed leads the block party with 49.
Saturday will mark the first time Morgan State and the Blue Raiders meet on the court.
MT holds a 3-2 series lead against VCU, but fell in their last meeting during the Blue Raider Bash a season ago.
Following Friday's double header, MT will wrap the weekend against Liberty on Saturday at 9 a.m. CT.
