Cross Country Ready To Compete In Commodore Classic

The Teams Will Be Facing Their Biggest Test of the Season
MURFREESBORO, Tenn.— Coming off their first place finishes in the UTC PowerAde Invitational, the men's and women's cross country teams are back in action to compete in the Commodore Classic at 9 a.m. Saturday morning in Nashville, Tenn.
The men's team will take the course first in the 8k at 9 a.m. and the women's squad will follow at 10 a.m. in the 5k.
The Blue Raiders will be facing tough competition, with a number of the nation's top teams in the field. On the men's side seven of the top 15 teams in the region will be competing in the race. The women will face off against six of the region's top 15 teams, including No. 1 Mississippi State and No. 2 Vanderbilt.
This year's field will consist of six schools from the SEC, three teams from the C-USA, along with teams from the Big Ten and ACC.
In last year's Commodore Classic the Middle Tennessee men's team found success, finishing third against a strong field. Amos Cheruiyot was the team's top finisher, as he placed in sixth with a time of 24:53.
Josphine Kiptebeny finished just outside the top 10 in the 2015 Commodore Classic, placing 11th with a time of 17:22.6 for the women.
Both teams are looking to repeat the success they had in Chattanooga last week as the women's team scored a perfect 15 points, while the men scored an impressive 19 points.
Middle Tennessee will be competing in the race with, Alabama State, Auburn, Belmont, Butler, Creighton, Davidson, Eastern Kentucky (women only), Eastern Michigan (women only), Georgia, Lipscomb, Louisville, Marshall, Miss. State, Missouri, Morehead State, Murray State, Northern Kentucky, Ohio State, SE Missouri, Tennessee, Tennessee Tech, Tennessee-Martin, UAB (women only); Vanderbilt, and Western Kentucky.
