MT travels to TSU for Ed Temple Classic

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Competing for the first time in 2017, the Blue Raider men and women's indoor track and field squads head to Nashville Sunday for the Ed Temple Classic hosted by Tennessee State.

The Blue Raiders seek to improve upon their Vanderbilt Opener results as the field events begin at 8 a.m. with the running events taking place at 10:30 a.m.

Geoffry Cheruiyot claimed a first-place finish in the mile run at the Vanderbilt Opener with a time of 4:14.29, while Kigen Chemadi took first in the 3,000 meter with a time of 8:09.43.

On the women's side, Loveth Odia and Abike Egbeniyi seek to keep their early-season momentum rolling after a pair of wins in their last outing. Odia and Egbeniyi finished first in the 400 meter and 800 meter events, respectively, and also helped the Raiders' 4x400-meter relay squad to a win.

Following Sunday's action, the Blue Raiders will compete in the third of four indoor meets held in Nashville this season when MT travels to Vanderbilt for the Commodore Invitational next weekend.
