CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Friday's game against Marshall has been moved to Saturday due to incoming weather. The Blue Raiders will play a doubleheader against the Thundering Herd beginning Saturday at 1 p.m.
Saturday will only be the 10th and 11th meeting between the two programs. The Thundering Herd lead the series 5-4, including sweeping the 2016 series in Murfreesboro.
Standout shortstop Riley Delgado, looks to continue his hot-hitting into chilly Charleston. Delgado has been on a tear as of late, batting .500 over the last five games. The senior is on a seven game hitting streak.
Delgado's partner in crime, second baseman Ryan Kemp, has stepped up big-time for the Blue Raiders, batting .316 over his last five, including rocketing his first career homer Wednesday night against Austin Peay.
The return of senior Brad Jarreau has been key to the Blue Raiders recent success, Jarreau was sidelined for 18 straight games, due to a broken hand. Since being re-inserted into the Blue Raider lineup Friday against WKU, Jarreau is hitting .368, including his first career multi-home run game Wednesday night against Austin Peay.
On the mound in Game One Saturday will be junior standout Jake Wyrick. The southpaw looks to bounce back from a rough outing last Friday night against WKU. Wyrick gave up six runs in the loss, which is uncharacteristic of the Blue Raider starter.
Two-way player, Devin Conn will get the start in Game Two Saturday. Conn last started at FAU, going 3-2/3 innings, giving up two runs on four hits and five walks, while striking out two. The Parkland, Fla., native has been effective coming out of the bullpen for the Blue Raiders this season.
Southpaw Cody Puckett will be on the mound Sunday for the Blue Raiders. Puckett is coming off his first career start, in which he tallied a career-high 10 strikeouts in seven innings of work last Sunday vs. WKU.
The Thundering Herd are coming in dropping their last two games, falling in the series finale at #25 Southern Miss and falling to Eastern Kentucky Tuesday night.
Marshall will start lefty Joshua Shapiro Friday night, and RHP Wade Martin Saturday. Sunday will be LHP Patrick Murphy
Marshall's lineup is led by Sam Finfer who has a team-high seven home runs to go along with 20 RBI and a .320 batting average.
MT Starting pitcher Tyler Hasper was a late scratch due to shoulder issues.
First pitch of game one is set for Saturday set for 1 p.m. Central Time.
An audio and video broadcast will be available on cusa.tv/raidervision and on the radio (92.3 FM WMOT 2). Follow live tweets on Twitter (@MT_Baseball).
