Conference USA Cross Country Championships (Hosted by Florida Atlantic)
Burt Aaronson South County Regional Park, Boca Raton, Fla.
October 27, 2018
This will be a new course for many runners at this race since this is the first time FAU will be hosting conference. Both courses will circle the same pond with the women's 5K running two loops clockwise and the men's 8K running a counterclockwise loop before two clockwise loops. The Florida heat may prove difficult for some teams accustomed to colder weather as the forecast calls for sunny weather and temperatures around 80 degrees.
The Opposition
North Texas – The Mean Green men placed eighth in the latest South Central regional poll, the highest spot by any C-USA team at the moment. Florian Lussy has twice been named C-USA Athlete of the week this season.
Rice – Rice is also currently ranked eighth in the women's South Central region and have finished in the top 10 in each of their four meets so far.
Charlotte – The 49ers were picked as preseason favorites in both divisions and the men will be looking to repeat as conference champions.
Last Time Out
The Blue Raider men took home the conference championship last season while the women finished sixth. A new-look on both sides means that neither team's top runners from last season are projected to compete in this year's race.
