XC Women Finish Runner-Up at C-USA Championship

Boca Raton, Fla. – Middle Tennessee's Cross Country teams competed for in the Conference USA Championships on Saturday morning. The women finished in second place for the third time in four years while the men placed sixth with Brian Rono leading the way and being named Second Team All C-USA.
The three true freshmen paced the Blue Raider men with Brian Rono the top runner in just his second race for MT. The freshman was named second team all conference with his ninth place finish. The top five finishers and Alan Bowers achieved personal bests on Saturday.
The MT women finished just four points shy of UTEP, who took the conference title with 44 points. The Blue Raiders finished five runners in the top 20 with Pamela Kosgei and Eusila Chepkemei taking home first-team all-conference honors while Joice Jebor, Rachel Kigen, and Julia Jelagat were named second-team all-conference. Six of the seven MT runners posted personal bests; Joice Jebor finshed only two seconds behind her personal best.

MT XC will compete in the NCAA South Regional in two weeks. The race will take place on Friday, November 9th and will be hosted in Tallahassee, Florida.
