Navarro Named to Scholar All-Region Third Team

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Following a stellar career, Middle Tennessee senior defender Sydney Navarro has been named to the United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-South Region Third Team.
"I'm happy for Sydney and really proud of her academic achievement," said Head Coach Aston Rhoden. "She works hard to achieve her academic goals so it's great for her to be recognized for her efforts in addition to her athletic abilities."
The Claremont, Calif. native boasts a 3.59 GPA in Liberal Studies and is set to graduate in May 2019. Navarro plans on using her degree to enter the world of physical therapy in the future.
Navarro was also named to the Scholar All-South Region Third Team in 2017.
She was named to the All-South Region Third Team, All-Conference Second Team and Academic All-Conference Second Team this season following a year of leadership on the Blue Raider backline. Navarro helped lead the squad to six shutout wins, including three in a row to close out the non-conference schedule.
Navarro also assisted the Blue Raiders offensively this season, recording two goals, including a game winner and registering an assist.
Conference USA had four other selections to the Scholar All-South Region teams.
